Organizing My Posts

I’m coming up on close to 100 posts on my blog. I’m trying to find a way make searching through them easier for visitors going through my blog. Do you have any recommendations? I want to make it easier for people to search through without having to dig through close to 100 pages to find 1 post. I’m not tech savvy and I’m not sure how I would go about doing this. Thank you for your help.

  • Hi there – First of all, congratulations on approaching that 100th post! That’s quite a feat. :)

Content organization is important and it’s great you’re thinking about it now. I see you have at least a couple of sites. What’s the URL of the site we should be helping you with?

Also something you should read up on before we go further is Categories. Categories are a great way to organize content: https://wordpress.com/support/posts/categories/

Looking forward to your reply so we can help out.

I only have 1 that I actually used. I started one and for some odd reason never got Access to it after starting it.

    The one I use: nobodyspeakingout.wordpress.com

    The one I don’t use: groceryguy89.wordpress.com

I gave up on trying to figure out how to delete that one for fear of deleting my posts I actually use.

  • Hi there,

It looks like the site groceryguy89.wordpress.com is not in use. I see it was created a few months ago, but no activity since then. If you wish you can delete it by following the steps here: https://wordpress.com/settings/delete-site/groceryguy89.wordpress.com

Note: deleting groceryguy89.wordpress.com will NOT affect your other site in any way.

Nobodyspeakingout.wordpress.com is the site you are trying to better organize, yes? One thing I noticed is that you do not seem to be using your footer widgets at all. You can actually add a search box into this place and anyone can use it to search for content on your site. More info here: https://wordpress.com/support/widgets/search-widget/

I also see you do a pretty good job of tagging your posts, and with that in mind you may also wish to add Tag Cloud Widget, which will show a list of all the tags you use in the footer of your site. This is something that site visitors can use to find past blog posts based on the “topic” or tag that interests them. If they click on the tag for “Sidewalk Prophets” for example, they would then see a page that lists all blog posts that you added that tag to.

You can lear more about the Tag Cloud Widget here: https://wordpress.com/support/widgets/tag-cloud-widget/

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Thank you so much for the support! It was nice to see there are some free widgets to use without needing to have a premium account. While I have considered a premium account; I want to see how far and how long I can go on a free account.
