organizing pages by date

how do I get the pages to be ordered according to date instead of alphabetically?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
It looks like you’ve already found it! The only way to really do so is to use the Custom Menu feature. It will allow you to arrange your pages however you’d like and update on the fly.
You could always rename your pages with a date scheme (such as: 2013-10-11), however that seems overly tiresome!

I did the menu option and it worked for the header. But…when I am working and click the pages button, they are still in alphabetical order. And, when you look to the left side of the blog, those pages are still in alphabetical order as well. I saw online that there is a “code” that you can put in that will arrange them by date? I’m not sure.

Ah! Yes, there is indeed. I didn’t realize that you were looking for something on a page. You’re looking for the archives shortcode:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/archives-shortcode/
Which you can modify to display in whatever order you’d like.

Thanks for the code! But where do I put it? It says to open an page and do that code. Do I need to go back and enter it in for all the pages that I have already done? Does it go in the body or the title? I’m sorry to be so difficult, but I have no idea how to do this. I’m going to need step by step instructions :)

No, I’m sorry I don’t think I quite understand what you’re looking to do after all. This is for creating a single “Table of Contents” type page which in turn pulls up a list of all of the pages which you have created thus far.
What list of pages are you referring to?
