Orvis theme Fonts

    Hi there, i was wondering if anybody could help me with some CSS codes to change a few font related things in the Orvis theme

    1. How to change the Font/Size/Color of the standard Orvis site title
    2. How to independently change font settings per post instead of affecting all posts/headers
    3. Or, how to create a banner that always stays at the top of the page when scrolling

    4. If at all possible, would here be a way to insert the instagram widget
    into the left side (text part) of the portfolio page?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

    1. How to change the Font/Size/Color of the standard Orvis site title

    You can set custom fonts for Headings and the Base font at Customize > Fonts. Headings is generally the site, post, page and widget titles as well as the headings you may put into the body of posts and pages. The following will allow you to change the color and size of the site title.

    .site-title a, .site-title a:focus, .site-title a:hover {
    	color: #cc0000;
    	font-size: 130%;
    }

    2. How to independently change font settings per post instead of affecting all posts/headers

    Could you explain a bit more what it is you are wanting to do? The reason I ask, is that this could end up being a lot of work on your end if you wish to make unique changes on may posts.

    In general, for readability reasons and to make things easier on your visitors, it is best to keep site to only two fonts, one for headings and one for the base font. Too many fonts, or too many colors can fatigue visitors.

    3. Or, how to create a banner that always stays at the top of the page when scrolling

    You can add it as a Custom Header at Customize Header Image. Once you do that, we can work on getting it to be fixed at the top of the site.

    4. If at all possible, would here be a way to insert the instagram widget
    into the left side (text part) of the portfolio page?

    The Portfolio page template does not have a sidebar area, so there is no way to add a widget on that page. CSS is a styling document used by browsers to style and position the elements of a web page and cannot be used to add functionality.

    Hi, thank you for the feedback.

    In regards to question 1: Is there also a similar code to change the size and color of the tagline of the website? So there is no way to change only the font type for the title (unless I go with a banner of sorts)?

    In regards to question 2: Basically I am looking to add the font choosing button like in word to the edit page of posts.

    For the tagline font size and color, add the following and adjust.

    .site-description {
    	 color: #cc0000;
    	font-size: 120%;
    }

    In regards to question 2: Basically I am looking to add the font choosing button like in word to the edit page of posts.

    We can’t add things to the editor itself. You will need to use HTML within your pages or posts to change font family. Spans tags for sections of text within a paragraph, p tags for a full paragraph, and a div surrounding the entire post content if you wish to change an entire post. Examples:

    <span style="font-family: arial, sans-serif;">section of text from paragraph here</span>

    <p style="font-family: arial, sans-serif;">full paragraph here</p>

    <div style="font-family: arial, sans-serif;">
    full post content here
    </div>
