Orvis Theme-Image gallery – how to remove background

Hello,
Could someone help me – is it possible to remove the grey background in the image galleries and also to customize the arrows?
The live demo version and sample project page images on theme site show ‘background-less’ slideshows… hence I assumed, that’s what I would get too…
Is it possible with the free theme? If yes, how?

I am not seeing the slider/slideshow on your site, can you share a link to the images in question?
I can only see the Portfolio’s which you have set-up.
For any customizations of background and arrows, you would have to upgarde to the Premium or Business plan on WordPress.com, which will then allow you to add CSS code. The Cascade Style Sheets will allow for many changes of the look of your site.

For the portfolios to display without the grey background you have to upload images with the minimum of 924px width, otherwise, they are too narrow and will show the grey background around them. You can look at more details about portfolio settings on the Orvis theme’s documentation:

Thank for responding.Here is an example of the image gallery i am referring to
https://devangiramakrishnan.wordpress.com/portfolio/pbbc/On this page – I sized the images to exactly 924px width – but on uploading to image gallery – the border still appears and the image sizes are reduced.
Another trial here:

it looks like it is the slider’s feature to display the grey background. In order to remove it you can paste the CSS code into your CSS panel, which is available through your Customizer on Premium and Business plans.
