Orvis Theme Portfolio how-to
-
I am starting a blog to use primarily for galleries, and prefer to put these on pages. So far I have an About page and one gallery page (in progress). From what I have read, I have made some desired changes using HTML/DSS, but I’d like to try the Orvis’ portfolio/project thing i.e. change the font color of the tagline. but haven’t a clue where to start. Any info I’ve found so far is over my head. I need a step by tiny step guideline. I’d be very grateful for some help with this.
Thanks,

Hi there!
To use the Portfolio setup with Orvis, you’ll need to start on your wp-admin here: https://br546.wordpress.com/wp-admin.
Click Portfolios along the left and you’ll see the area to add new projects. This page goes over how Portfolios work: https://en.support.wordpress.com/portfolios/.
For Orvis, the demo is using the Portfolio Page Template as the front page. Do you want to set your site up the same way? To do that, set the Page Template of the page you set as Front Page to Portfolio Page Template. (Then you can go into the wp-admin Portfolios area and add projects.)
The section called “Portfolio Page Template” on this page has more detail/steps for setting it up: https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/orvis/.
Let me know if you have any questions as you work through the steps! :)
