Orvis Theme – Portfolio Project in Ascending Order
-
Hi,
I am using Orvis theme for my website (www.phoebechui.com). I would like to change the order of the portfolio displayed on my homepage/ any portfolio page. I want the earliest project displayed first (top) and the latest project displayed last (bottom).
I am using the Portfolio Page Template under Page Attribute for the Portfolio page. I read about the Portfolio Shortcode but not sure where to add to overwrite the default setting.
would appreciate if someone can help me on that.
Thank you!

Hi there,
In order to use the Portfolio Shortcode, I would switch to the Default Template so you have more control over the appearance of the portfolio. Then try inserting this shortcode in your page editor:
[portfolio order=ASC]
For other attributes you can change, see https://en.support.wordpress.com/portfolios/portfolio-shortcode/#attributesLet us know if you need more help.

Thanks for replying!
Is it possible to keep the Portfolio Page Template and set additional code to overwrite certain properties? cause I like the current text link hover effect on the grid images.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
To my understanding, you only have two options:
- You can use the Portfolio Page Template but you won’t be able to control the order. Portfolio projects are ordered by the date they’re created, with the most recent project displayed first.
- You can use the Default Template and insert a custom shortcode so you can control the order.
I may be wrong so I am going to add the tag modlook to call this thread to staff’s attention, in case they know of a workaround.

@phoebechui1 are you using the Orvis template on your own WordPress.org installation? If so, you may be able to make a child theme to accomplish what you’re after. You could ask for pointers here:
https://wordpress.org/support/theme/orvisIf you’re using it with a site on our servers, and that site is not on a business plan, you would not be able to change the code for the portfolio template page to reverse the portfolio direction. I hope that helps.

I just republished the items i wanted to see first with today’s date a newer date to those published before them. It seem to change the order.

@martinatkinson117 changing the date works, too. :)
I’m going to go ahead and close this thread. Cheers, all.
