Other content, than just text

Hello, it is not really a problem, but I have no idea, how to make a page with anything more, than just text. How can I add let’s say a checkbox, or a table or anything.
The HTML tab doesn’t really do what I’d expect it to do, are there any plugins or something?

    Thanks, Tom

    Hi Tom,

To add certain elements to your site using the text (html) tab, it does help to know a little html code. Some of this depends on the theme as well but if there is anything specific to your theme, you can find out by looking it up in the themes directory and looking for a HTML Elements somewhere in the themes menu. It looks like your site is private so I can’t tell which theme you’re using or I would add the link for you but you can find it by going to themes from your dashboard as well.

Most free themes include some html elements built into the visual editor such as Headings (here’s an example: <h1>HfProgress</h1>) or you can add minimal html to change the style of the text, such make text italic, bold, or preformatted, which the visual editor can also apply for you so you do not need to add html code to apply this to the text.

WordPress also has shortcodes created just to make adding different things to our blog sites possible such as a gallery shortcode to display a really cool mosaic of a set of pictures (good for image posts). But that is nothing – there are tons of shortcodes you can use, you can find them here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/category/shortcodes/ and these really help to add content to pages, and posts.

There are also some advanced html uses you can use which you can find here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/advanced-html/ but if you are just learning about html, you may want to start here and really learn the basics of WordPress as well as the beginner html support before getting into the advanced html code. http://learn.wordpress.com/

Also be sure to read up about widgets another way to add content to your blog which WP has made really simple to add and there are also lots of widget options. Go to widgets under appearance in your sites dashboard.

If you want to do even more you can upgrade (css design upgrade) which lets you do much more and allows you to make your site more your own because you can change the css. You can learn more about this premium option here https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/ or go to “Upgrades” located in your dashboard.

    Hope some of this helps!
