Also-if I do NOT have a domain is the site in truth not visible to anyone anyway? Thanks.

  • Hi there,

Can I go ahead and buy/purchase but not go public/publish? I am still in the phase of developing my site and it is far from ready to be viewed

All WordPress.com sites are hidden by default. Right now, all anyone trying to visit your site will see is this:

    https://d.pr/i/v1zb1n

And they’ll only get there if you deliberately shared the link with them – at the moment search engines don’t know about your site yet, so there’s no way anyone can discover it by accident.

That Coming Soon message will only go away once you launch your site, either from Settings ->General, or via the bar you’ll see at the top of the screen when you view the site via your account. So you can go ahead and upgrade if you want, and otherwise do what you need to do on your site, and only launch it once you’re ready for other people to see it :)

can it always be edited by me once it is published?

Yes. You can change both the theme and the content whenever you want, however you want.

if I do NOT have a domain is the site in truth not visible to anyone anyway?

When you create a site on WordPress.com, we give you a free address to use with the site. In this case it’s boomwithaviewcom.wordpress.com. Once your site is launched anyone will be able to see your site at that address, and search engines will also index your site at that address.

You do have the option to add your own custom domain to your site, which will then appear in the browser in place of the free address. That requires that you upgrade to one of our paid plans.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
