Why can’t I find a phone number for a real person to ask why our website is down? Have talked to Yahoo Small business who sold our domain to us and they assure us that Word Press is the host of our website.

WHY did WP change our URL so our site is down when people go to re66mainstreet.org. This URL is on all our correspondence, business cards, google, etc. HELP -

Donna Savage, we are not in a call center, so while some random person could call you, support cannot.
We do not want someone to call you pretending to be us, so we have removed your number from the post.
That said, we are human beings, and I’ve just found the issue with your site: your upgrades expired. Can you log out, log in as user jessbrent, then head to https://wordpress.com/plans to add your plan and domain back to your site?
Alternatively, you can add a plan and we can map the domain for you if you will update us here.

Our url is rt66mainstreet.org, (which is down) for some reason WP is showing it as: https://rt66mainstreetdotorg.wordpress.com/. How did this change happen as we have been using rt66mainstreet.org for months and there hasn’t been an issue.
Also:
Here’s the info our outgoing director, Laurie Pyle, sent me re: paying for our hosting, so according to this info, our account should not be in arrears:“I updated my credit card information for WordPress which hosts our website…It will be charged on December 31st.

You’re posting here as the username,
dls1610. This account has never bought any upgrades from us, and is only an admin on the site, rt66mainstreetdotorg.wordpress.com, not the owner.The owner of that site is the account,
jessicabrent, and the reason the domain no longer loads at rt66mainstreet.org is because the Premium Plan and domain mapping upgrade which that account had purchased for the site recently expired, causing those upgrades to be removed from the account. If you look at the email you provided above you’ll see it’s dated 22 December – that was the 30-day renewal reminder, which is sent a month before the upgrades expire. The upgrades were then removed from the site a week after they expired, on 28 January.To get the site showing at the domain again, an admin of the site (so you can also do it, it doesn’t have to be the site owner) will need to go to My Site ->Plans and purchase a new plan for the site. Then you’ll be able to add a new domain mapping upgrade via My Site ->Domains ->Add, though if anyone but
jessicabrentbuys the new plan for the site, you’ll need staff help to add the mapping for you manually as our system won’t allow a different account to add that upgrade so soon after it expired. -
THANK YOU for finally explaining the situation on our account. We are in-between directors at our non-profit, but I was assured that the hosting on our website had been paid before she left at the end of December. I have inherited this website and am not a wordpress user, it appears our domain name is with one company, our email is being managed by Web.com, etc. So, I’m trying to learn all this over this past 2 weeks. My question now is: I purchased an upgrade on hosting just now, how soon will our site be alive again? Also, can I change the owner, since Jessica Brendt was two directors ago?
Last question: why does our url change to: https://rt66mainstreetdotorg.wordpress.com/ from our purchased domain: rt66mainstreet.org? Is this a WordPress thing?

Sometimes it will take up to 72 hours for the name server changes to become fully activated. Do you know when the name servers were switched over to ours?
They look to be set correctly. So, it could just be a matter of time.

The servers are WordPress servers…..our account lapsed and I had to pay it, so am hoping all is ok on the server end.

rt66mainstreet.org points to the non-existing rt66mainstreet.wordpress.com Your original site was https://rt66mainstreetdotorg.wordpress.com/ (which is online). If things were set up correctly that .wordpress.com address would seamlessly divert to your .org domain address. I’ve tagged this thread to ask staff if they could advise you further.
