Hi, I have a wordpress site and purchased it in late 2016 (October or November). Yesterday I received an email stating it is from WordPress.com and it says ‘Welcome to WordPress.com. Please click the button below to confirm your email address and activate your account. (Confirm Now button)

From your pals at WordPress.com
60 29th St. #343, San Francisco, CA, 94110’

It seems out of character to have received this email since my site has been up and running fine for almost 2 years. However, I have been building it over this stretch of time. Can you tell me if this sounds like a legitimate email or scam?

Hi @janeneblockstudios, janeneblockstudios.com is not hosted here at WordPress.com, but self-hosted at Inmotion Hosting. I checked your site address and do not find that it is connected to WordPress.com through Jetpack and was not registered here.

What is the email address that the email was sent to and we can investigate further?

If you post it here in the forum, only our staff will be able to see it.

Did that happen after you created your account here? I’m seeing a creation date of 2018/06/25.

When accounts are created here, we do send out an email confirmation as one of out steps for verifying email address and to prevent spam signups.

I’m seeing in our records that you have not responded to that email confirmation. I’m pretty sure that is the email you received.

I am confused. I’ve been working on my WordPress site since 2016. How can I be developing my site all this time and yet not have WordPress? I’m not sure I understand. I received the email in question on 6/24/2018.

The creation date was 6/25/18? I received the email on 6/24/18.
