Outbound links not working

  I’m trying to add outbound links but for some reason WordPress just makes them inbound links to the very post I’m working on. Whether it’s a text backlink or a link inserted into an image, once I publish the page or preview changes, the link just links back to that very page. It’s super annoying and not to mention the backbone of my business so a little help would be great. Thanks!
