Outdated And Inaccurate Red Cross Blogs Require Deletion
-
I am the primary IT support technician for the American Red Cross in the state of South Carolina. I recently received a ticket from one of our Chapter managers, Jennifer Heisler, stating that there are three South Carolina Red Cross related blogs hosted on WordPress that were created some years ago, and are now extremely outdated and inaccurate. She is concerned that these blogs are providing misleading information to the public as personnel and physical locations have changed since they were created. The problem is that the personnel who created these blogs are also long gone and no account ownership information has been retained. We have no way to access the accounts or authenticate ownership; however, we are the American Red Cross and have authority over information related to American Red Cross sites and services. As I have been tasked to investigate how we can have these outdated blogs removed, I need to speak with someone on how we can move forward. I can be reached at the redcross.org email address used to register this temporary account. The three blogs in question are:
https://arccarolinalowcountry.wordpress.com/
https://redcrosscharlestonscregion.wordpress.com/

One cannot delete any site one did not register under their username account, or that has not been transferred to their username account by the person with the account that registered it.
Every WordPress.COM blog has a sole owner. It is the person with the WordPress.COM username account who registered the blog under that username account and a single associated email address, and who is the original Admin of the blogs registered under that username account.
You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard. The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:
http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
* You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with the actual blog’s name in that URL.
If the log-in information is lost they need to visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
If you do not have the required access and someone else registered the site you need to contact the person who registered the account and site under it and have them transfer the sites to your username account by using this process. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account
If you check each and every possible email address and account and are not successful gaining access to the blog(s) then you must complete the form for account recovery at this link https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery and submit it to the Account Recovery Staff, and provide proof ownership, so they can contact you by email ie. not on these public support forums, which are available to everyone with internet access.
Support Staff cannot breach the privacy policy and provide the log-in information. You have to provide proof ownership to Account Recovery Staff to gain access https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/
