Outlook desktop set up after forwarding GoDaddy email to WordPress
-
Hi, i am working on the website outdooradventuresgreatercincinnati.org. We forwarded the domain from GoDaddy and also the email which is provided by GoDaddy.
When setting up the account on iphone it worked fine and can receive and send emails without a problem, but we are trying to set up the email account on Outlook 13 (windows) on a desktop and it keeps erring out because of incorrect wordpress settings.
Can you tell me exactly what settings have to be used for incoming and outgoing servers so that email can be received and sent via outlook? The client does not want to do it online.
Thank you

Hi there,
Did you move all of the DNS records over from GoDaddy to WordPress.com? Currently, I see two CNAME records and two MX records in place. Those records appear to be entered correctly as explained by the guide here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/add-email/add-godaddy-email/
The only thing that looks like it might be incorrect is the second MX record (protection.outlook.com). Is it possible that this record was input incorrectly?

I copied the info just as it was in GoDaddy before redirecting the servers to WordPress. The email works fine with the Apple mail in iPhone, but it won’t work when trying to set up using Outlook in a desktop. And the form in the site works properly when sending the info to the proper destination.
So I am wondering if it has anything to do with the fact that GoDaddy uses Office 365 for email.
I looked at the instructions for setting email that uses Office 365, yet when I go to login directly to microsoft, it redirects back to GoDaddy since that is who is supplying the email service. So I wonder then what settings for the DNS servers I should follow, the ones for GoDaddy (provides email service) or Office 365?
I am at a loss finding where the issue resides.

HI there,
It might be best to talk to GoDaddy about this. I’m not quite sure why it would work on your phone, but not your Desktop. GoDaddy might be able to troubleshoot this for you.
