I have the chive.com (KCCO) on my admin pane. I would like to remove it and it will not let me. Not sure how it got in there.

Staff can remove it. I’ve flagged this for their attention. You are not the firt person to report this. Personally, if it were me, I’d look and see if I could get into the Chive’s ad program and send all the money to myself. They make a freaking fortune.

Well, I don’t actually have any access to their control panel. I tried messing with it to see if I could delete it off my page. So it’s obvious it’s connected somehow but that I don’t have permissions. Very odd really…

Can I get their ad earnings? If yes, I will rescind this complaint.

rain-you can remove it yourself in the “My Blogs” section of your site’s dashboard. Click the “Leave Blog” link when hovering over the site name there.
Makes me wonder what the heck is going on here?

Is there any way we can get a cut of the advertising? As a reporter, I have to ask these things.

Speaking of which, I’ve discovered I can get in to the actual stats page of that site, and looking at the referrers, I’m wondering if it could be this advertisor: http://danarimedia.com/
There are a TON of referrals from ads with keywords on that ad network. Could this be connected somehow with Word Ads? If we’re running Word Ads and the Berry (shechive) has bought a keyword, and they end up in an ad on our sites, might that be how we are connected?

Thanks for the suggestion regarding the WordAds. I don’t believe this is the cause as I’ve double-checked several of the users, and they’re not on WordAds at the moment. Our VIP team is digging into why this might be happening!

Would people who are randomly getting this on their dashboards not be clicking through to the site? Because I couldn’t find anything in the stats that would indicate clickthroughs from dashboards. Not one click. Not even my own.

Apologies if I’m misunderstanding – if you’re somehow added as a user on the site and then you click through to visit thechive.com, you would not be recorded as a visitor. Is that what you’re referring to?

i’m not really sure to be honest, it seems I was somehow added as a user but couldn’t actually do anything like have access to the admin page or post anything. all i could do was view their stats.
