Outside WordPress.com URL address?

My wife Jane started a blog yesterday named Jane’s Journey under jcbromfield1.wordpress.com and we have not been able to access from outside wordpress.com (so that she can give her URL address to others or Google search name? Not able to understand why….even in Google Search….mostly identifies Jane Goodall…..or possbly Jane Austin. Any help would be appreciated.
I believe this can be accomplished as my outside wordpress.com blog address is http://tadbromfieldflironman110312.wordpress.com/ and it similarly works.

If you are trying to find your blog with a Google search – it takes 4 to 6 weeks for search engines to index a new site – and that assumes that you Post and give search engines a reason to index your site

Thanks it did not last night or this AM and I tried on several computers…..do not understand why but it makes no diff if it works. Thanks for your help.
One other quick question, since I am NOT the expert. Would there be a reason besides ‘no ads’ for me to migrate from free wordpress blog to more permanent site? My goal would be to make tadbromfieldflironman110312.wordpress.com more permanent since I spent so much time and effort documenting my jouney. Thanks for considering my request. Tad

Can I purchase custom domain from Go Daddy and map to my blog? Or ….trying to think through how that works? If I get custom domain I need someplace to host, format to create content (or templates) and ?
