Overcharge for domain name

  • Unknown's avatar

I purchased a domain name from WordPress. Your website says it costs $18 for .com domain name. I was billed $26. When I gave my credit card to pay for the domain, nowhere did it say you would be charging me $26. I called the number on my credit card charge (WP-Fee.com 877-273-3049). You can’t talk to a human at this number.

It seems in general you can’t get a human on the phone for any type of customer support for WordPress. Frankly I am really upset about this “tricky” $26 overcharge.

My home phone is [redacted]. If you get voicemail please leave a return phone number.

    Thank you,

    Mitch

  • Hi Mitch,

We don’t offer phone support at this time.

Looking at your account, you chose our Private Registration option (a checkbox that looks like this: https://cloudup.com/cP4TES64ugL ), which masks your domain registration information from the public database (e.g. instead of seeing your name and address, it shows our third-party address as a “proxy”), which has an additional $8 cost associated with it.

I can remove the privacy option and refund the $8, if you would like. If you’d like to do that, please let me know.

If you have any questions or need anything else, please let me know!

    Cheers!
