Overflow setting for a div not working

  • Unknown's avatar

    I set the div overflow to auto for some images. I’m supposed to get the images at full resolution with a scrollbar inside of the div, but it only shrinks (default setting, clearly). I was able to run the code in NetBeans as a test project and it ran fine — I got the scrollbar. In WordPress, there is apparently an override somewhere. I’d like to know where it is.

  • Hi @aeuster695692161,
    if you could please share a link to the page in question – I’d love to take a look and see if I can figure it out?

    Thanks Heaps,
    Jordan

    The site is not up yet. I’m working on it locally before I go live. Is there an alternative here? I should point out again that the code worked fine in NetBeans as a basic html / css / JavaScript / jQuery project. There is something in WordPress that is preventing overflow (even when I add important! to the css). Maybe somewhere in the php. I suspect there’s an override in my theme “Twenty Sixteen.”

    Could you could suggest an alternative way of getting the full resolution images with scrollbars inside the div without using overflow?

    I studied programming so I can help for free if you want of course. It’s even interesting to me to remember what I once taught. Just at this stage of my life, I realized that I was more inspired by the writing of essays, my muse found me. Of course, I spent a lot of time and energy for this, but what a result. I am happy now, and I am glad that already find it… I hope you will find your muse too.

    Hi aeuster695692161,

    If in case you have a custom CSS code written and if you think it’s getting overridden, can you include if not ‘!important’ in your code.
    e.g.
    div.abc {
    overflow: auto !important;
    }

    If not, can you try it out and see if it works.
    Also make sure you read when to use !important.

    Thanks

    Thanks for the feedback, but as I indicated, I already tried !important and it did not work.
