overlap between Followed Sites and lists

Last week I read about the advantage of creating a list to follow sites en bloc. Things work very well, but now I am really surprised to find all items I had put into a list also under Followed Sites. I would have expected them to be two separate things. Instead of cleaning my section Followed Sites by putting a number of them in a list, they all appear when using Followed Sites. The idea of creating lists seems good, but is it really necessay that Followed Sites might become nearly unusable. Perhaps it is a theme matter, I am using Twenty Twelve. Any sound advice about a workaround is also welcome!

Can anybody tell me more about my question? What I experience is not mentioned in the concise description how to create lists in the Reader, see the page with Support information. I have no clue whether what I point at might be more appropriate for the Ideas forum.

Hello, I also would like to know about the functionality of lists in the Reader. When preparing my own lists at http://digital1418.wordpress.com I came across this topic. I can only second the questions asked here. They are really relevant, because the Support information does not contain a precise answer to these questions. Somehow this topic has not yet received any attention at this forum…
