Overlap problem: previous post in sidebar

  • Unknown's avatar

This problem was brought up by another blogger in January, but never addressed. Here is the link to my blog: writingkillercontent.wordpress.com

The problem is evident immediately: my previous post runs down the sidebar, and my sidebar got bumped to the bottom of the page (where the previous post(s) should be). Do I need to change themes? Someone had mentioned there are problems with certain themes…thanks a ton…

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This is typically due to open HTML tags, or bad HTML somewhere in a post.

Go to settings > writing and select “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and click “save changes.

Open each post on the main page in the editor in turn, make one minor change such as adding a space and then deleting it, and then click update post. Keep doing this till the problem resolves.

The change at settings > writing should keep this from happening in the future.

Thanks for your reply. The problem, with my help, fixed itself. I kept deleting the post and recreating it, closing down my browser, etc., until finally the weird sidebar went away.

In the future, if I choose to select “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically,” will this effect anything else in regard to my CSS commands? I only ask because I’ve been experimenting constantly in order to achieve specific formatting and layout…thanks!

It shouldn’t. Normally you would close all your tags yourself, this is just a backup to ensure that it happens one way or another.
