"Overwriting" instead of "expanding"

Hello, I hope somebody can help me with this problem.

Suddenly, when I for example try to “fill in” a word or a sentence, it writes over what ever is in front of it, like a bulldozer, in stead of moving the words in front of it forwards. Maybe a bad way to explain. I am going to try to make an example.

For example: If I have written: “I hope this day will stay great”, but decide to fill in something in front of this sentence, for example: “Today is a great. I hope this day will stay great.” Then it becomes something like this: “Today is…will stay great”. In other words: It writes over what is already there. Do you know how I fix this?

    Thank you!

Hi there, does this happen when you write a new post or page on your WordPressdotcom website while working in a web browser?

Is it possible you’ve accidentally clicked on the “Insert” button on your keyboard? That will do exactly as you’ve described by overwriting the existing text.

If not, please give more details where you see this happening. Thanks.
