Own domain

I’ve got blog with free plan. I don’t have personal, premium or business plan – and I don’t want to get any of these.
I have my own domain which I bought elswere.
How can I connect my wordpress blog with my domain?
Is ‘domain mapping’ (13$/year) still available option?
    Thanks.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

You will need to purchase a plan in order to connect a domain with your site. It is not possible to do so without a plan.

The $13 a year cost for domain mapping only applies if you connect additional domains after the first domain included in your plan.

So, If I purchase „personal” plan ($35,88/year – https://wordpress.com/pricing) I connect my blog with my non-wordpress domain without any other costs – because „personal” plan contains „custom domain name”. $35,88 will be my totall cost in this case. Am I right?

  • That is correct. Connecting your domain is included in Personal, and when that renews each year that will renew the domain mapping upgrade as well.

The only other cost is what you need to pay your domain provider to renew the domain itself.

Thank You for the answer. It’s clear to me.

… but let’s suppose that I have already done everything just like I wrote here – I have „personal” plan and I connected my own domain – it works well, I’m very glad…
…and building websites enjoy me so much that I decided to create another blog here, and like in previous case I’ve got already my own domain for it too.
How much will I pay for the second one? … and how can I do this?
(Second plan? Or domain mapping for $13/year is available to me in this case?)

Let’s suppose that my wordpress blog has many website administrators – is it important who does the payment?
Does plan belong only to the user, who bought it? Or maybe it’s connected to clearly defined website (and every administrator can use all plan’s options)?

If it’s a different site to which you want to connect a different domain, you’ll need a plan for the other site as well to connect a domain there. At present our upgrades or per site, not per account.

Yes. Only the user who bought an upgrade can renew or otherwise manage it. Should a user who owns an upgrade leave the site at any point, they’ll need to transfer ownership of the upgrade to another user who will then be responsible for managing it.

The plan belongs only to the user who bought it, and domains can only be manged by the user who owns the domain or domain mapping upgrade, but other plan features, like extra storage and custom design in Premium, can be used by any admin on the site. On Business sites all admins also have access to live chat support – on Personal and Premium only the upgrade owner has.
