own domain transfer to wordpress

  Hi, I purchased my own domain name from a local provider a few years ago (www.unlimitedmatera.it) and since then it has been used only for redirecting to my wordpress website unlimitedmatera.wordpress.com

  At the moment my WP website is mobile-friendly but the own domain itself is not and you suggest this would require a domain mapping upgrade.

  Q1: would the domain mapping still be necessary if the domain name was hosted by WP?

  Q2: how do you transfer a domain from another registrer to WP? I have seen support on moving from WP to another host but not on the opposite.

  You need the domain mapping upgrade, no other way:
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  Yes, I did it with my custom domain (http://trasnochada.es/). I think it’s very useful and it only took 10 minutes to do the whole process.
  Then I had to wait a couple of hours for the “nameservers” worked.
