  I have a .ie domain already , is it just €8 per month ? And do I have to enter my credit card details before I can start to design my site?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  The short answer first: you can start designing your site with the free plan. Nothing will be lost if you decide to change your domain. 🙂

  If you want to use a custom domain for your site (for instance, your .ie domain, instead of .wordpress.com), then you will need at least the personal plan. You can find more on the different plans here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/plan-features/

  Given that you already own your domain, you can either transfer it over to WordPress.com (to manage both your site and domain on the same platform: https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/), or map it (declare to WordPress.com that you own the domain, but still manage it on your provider’s interface: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/).

  Hi there,

  We don’t support registration or transfers of .ie domains, so to use a .ie domain with a WordPress.com site will require the domain mapping upgrade. And that can only be added using one of our paid plans, so you’ll need at least the Personal Plan to use that domain with your WordPress.com site.

  However, as @wpis1337 said, you can start setting up your site on the free plan it has currently, and only add the paid plan and domain when you’re ready, if you prefer. Keep in mind, though, that a paid plan will also give you access to live chat support, which might come in helpful as you work on setting up your site.
