Oxford – question about section on home page

I’m in charge of the website for our weekly newspaper, and I’m just figuring things out with Oxford. I can’t seem to figure out how to get rid of one section. Under my big front page picture and caption, there’s a section that says “Latest Stories” then has a random date, and then says “Keep Reading.”
I would like to get rid of that whole section…it just takes up space and doesn’t link to anything except a smaller version of my front page picture. I have the front page picture linked to a story, and I have all my stories on pages (Local News, Local Events, Classifieds, etc.). So I either need to get rid of this section or figure out how to put something useful in it.
