oxygen – how to create a similar slide show/animated banner as on oxygen home pg

  I am using the oxygen template as:

  I chose this Oxygen theme as I fell in love with this page. But I dont know how to have the slide show with little arrows – at the same size/proportions. It is more aesthetic than the default wordpress carasol.

  I guess this is a show case page – because it says Recent Articles under the main photos and thumbnails.
  When I change the template from default to showcase – I dont know how to insert images – so they automatically land in the slider.

  I am aware also of http://www.slideshare.net – and have given it a go and it works — but I really dig Oxygens animated banner.
  I also wonder how to get the side sub-menu black back-ground with white text. When I tried a side menu it was the default white background.

  Plus where/what do featured images – I cant see how it is highlighted.

  Hi,

  I dont have answers to your questions but I am stuck with something that it seems you’ve managed to do well on your site.

  I can’t get the featured slider to work on the home page. Would it be possible for you to let me know how you did it?

  I have a number of pages and I set a bunch of images as featured images and then set the homepage to use the showcase template but the slider doesn’t appear.

  Would appreciate assistance!

  There is no slideshow on the Oxygen theme. There is a featured post slider.

  The front page of the blog by default will display your posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. If you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page “Welcome“ for your site and a “Blog” page for posts. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

  Showcase page template
  When you first activate Oxygen, you’ll see your posts in a traditional blog format but if you’d like to showcase your content in an online magazine-like fashion, then you can use the Showcase Page template.

  The Showcase Page template offers a featured slider for Sticky Posts. To use the template, create or edit a page, and assign it to the Showcase Page template from the Page Attributes module. If you’d like use the Showcase Page template on your front page, go to Settings → Reading and set the Front page option to Static Page. Select the page you just assigned the Showcase Page template to as your front page and then choose another page to serve as your blog page.

  Oxygen featured post slider:
  Sticky post thumbnails are 750 pixels wide in the featured slider
  Regular post thumbnails are 450 pixels wide

  Thank-you for your help, it is working now. I have got my home page working with the Showcase Page.
  Can Showcase page be used for any other page eg Portfolio- to feature more posts.
  How would posts or categories – content be attached to this Showcase page?
  (I am used to to geting it on the home page by making it sticky) – but that would not work for other pages.
