Oxygen – Image height/width on post, longer exerpt

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

    I had to remove the the right sidebar, and now I’m struggling to balance the blank space.

    I’d like to:
    1. Have more lines of text in the excerpt, or
    2.Be able to enlarge the text.
    3. Extend the image the full width, while maintaining the height. It’s OK if the image is cropped.

    Really hoping for this!

    Thanks!

    Erin

    Let me see what I can do to help. First though, let me make sure I’m looking at the right thing. I checked http://gradedtl.wordpress.com/ and I can see a right sidebar with some photos in it with a heading at the top that says, “TEACHING AND LEARNING IN ACTION.” And I see the same sidebar on posts. Is that the sidebar you want to remove? Am I looking at the right link? Did you remove the right sidebar earlier but then add it back?

    Hi there,

    1. Have more lines of text in the excerpt, or
    2.Be able to enlarge the text.

    The length of the excerpt is set in the theme php script files, so we cannot change that, but we can make the text larger with the following CSS. Adjust the font size as desired.

      .home .entry-summary {
          font-size: 110%;
      }

      3. Extend the image the full width, while maintaining the height. It’s OK if the image is cropped.

      Use the following CSS to enlarge the image on the main page of your site:

      .home .attachment-archive-thumbnail {
          width: 100%;
      }

      With the above, your images are going to lose some quality since we are asking the browser to enlarge the image, and they aren’t too good at that. See what you think though.
