oxygen or sight theme help

I just started this blog so I don’t have the custom design option because frankly I can’t afford it now and I haven’t learned css yet. I’m still playing with both of these theme in hope one will offer an answer to my problems.
1-My problem is with both of these themes is that when i post without a picture I either get a blank grey box that says “uncategorized” on it (oxygen) or a big title above my post title that either says “uncategorized” or whatever category said post is. Is there a way to get rid of that? I don’t want the grey box at all on posts without pictures or I don’t want categories shown above my post title.
2- categories on the sidebar in oxygen. How to I get rid of this? I go to customize and the appropriate sidebar and there’s nothing that shows up for me to edit.
3-sizing. I’m using chrome a pc and sometimes everything looks squashed on my blog, sometimes it doesn’t. Is this an issue with chrome?

1- Custom Design upgrade is needed to be able to hide the category name ( or “uncategorized” for posts without category).
2- You can hide the default categories widget in Oxygen by either adding some other required widget to the Primary Sidebar or by adding blank text widget in case you wish to keep the entire left sidebar empty.
3- Viewing your blog in the Chrome browser should be fine. https://adventroverted.wordpress.com/ looks great in Google Chrome.

I need help in the following things in Blissful blog theme or Oxygen theme.
1. Set Slider (of 7-8 sticky posts) and Table on Home page. Table with Images and text which links to other pages/posts.
2. Show only initial content instead of full content of each post (with Read more button)
3. Customize the Title & text that appear with Slider.
Can you help please?
