Oxygen slider assistance
-
The slider for Oxygen is not working for me. I followed the directions. I created a page and set it as the showcase page. Then I posted several images and marked them as sticky and as featured image. Then I went to settings and reading and marked the showcase page as frontpage and static. Can you advise? meghanebailey.wordpress.com

Your blog is private, so we volunteers cannot examine it. If you created a page, selected the showcase template for it, set the blog front to display that page, marked some posts as stickies and set a featured image to each sticky, then the only possible problem is that the featured images aren’t large enough: they have to be at least 750 pixels wide.

Got it – it must the the size of the images. I’ll check tonight and let you know if I am still having issues.

The slider is now working but the subsequent post on the same page is not showing my images. These same image show successfully on the slider…Can you advise? I made my blog public so you can view the issue under “Artwork”

The post is displaying the grey placeholder that shows when you haven’t set a featured image (or when the featured image is too small).

I am having issues with getting the slider set-up as well. I would really love some help on this. vomaxtechnical.com

Justpi, you rock. I was able to get the banner up and it is scrolling through my 6 sticky posts. Nice! One thing I was noticing was that the “banner” at the top of the page that displays the title superimposed over the featured photo; it is rather large and often it is displayed right over the main part of the photo, such as someones face. Not a huge deal and I am guessing that this is probably due to the long title names I have used. I will keep this in mind for the next posts I make. When I view the photo of the oxygen theme template from wordpress there is a neat looking black box that lists (books-featured-photos-……) any thoughts on how I can implement this? I do think that our blog is really starting to look good but right now it seems a little sparse. Thanks again for the pro help!! vomaxtechnical.com

You’re welcome!
a) Yes, the problem is the length of your titles, coupled of course with the positioning and the excessively large font size of the theme (which you can’t change without the Custom Design upgrade).
b) To populate the black box you create a new custom menu and set it as your secondary menu. I’m seeing you’re already using a custom top menu so I guess you don’t need more details.
