Oxygen theme: cannot see featured image on home page

    I’m setting up a blog using the Oxygen theme. I have followed the instructions and have set my home page as a static page, and want the featured image (saved as 750 pixel width) to appear on that page, but it doesn’t show up at all. If I upload the picture directly into the page editor it appears, but does not appear if I set it as the featured image. Recommendations?

    My goal is to have a series of sticky posts appear on the front page as per the Oxygen them demo, but I can’t seem to manage this ;-). Any help appreciated.Thank you!

    Hi there – you need to choose the “Showcase Page” page template for your Home page, as shown here:

    Then, you won’t set a featured image for that page itself. Rather, you’ll create posts with featured images, and set them as sticky, and those posts will show up on the Home page in the showcase template.

    Eurello– thank you! You will see if you go to the blog that I was able to use your advice. Much appreciated and very clear instructions.

    I now have another question: why is the featured image that I have posted to my “KIDS” page, not visible? the image is saved as 750 pX width, is that the problem since this is a page and not a post or sticky post?

    Hi there – Yep, it’s because it’s a page. The slider only pulls from posts – as far as I know, all of our themes work that way. The sliders don’t really pull from static pages.

    From the titles of your pages, I’m thinking you might actually do better not to use static pages, and instead set up “category pages.” If what you’re wanting is to have your posts about Food go on the Food page, for example, that’s what you’ll need to do. We have a step-by-step guide for setting this up here:

    I actually agree with you about the category pages concept ( spent time yesterday researching WP and looking at other sites) . Thank you!

    However let me get this straight: if I have a page, other than my static home page, in WP featured images function won’t work?

    However I assume I can still embed media in the page directly from the main editor screen for that page? For example, if I want to have an “about me” page and I want to have a picture…..

    Hi there – Correct. Featured images are used by different themes in different ways. Some themes display featured images on static pages as a header image on that page, but I don’t know of any that pull featured images from static pages for the homepage slider.

    However, you can always add images, galleries, and slideshows to any page or post you like:

    Gallery
