Oxygen theme front page
-
Hi,
I am brand new to wordpress.com (and love it). I am using the oxygen theme (with its feature slider) to present a cottage my partner and I are renovating on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. My query relates to the area beneath the feature slider. Ideally I would like the ‘skye white house’ page to appear here (and to be static) so that people visiting the site can read a summary without having to click on something. Is this possible? If so what do I need to do?
Thanks ‘isleofskyewhitehouse.wordpress.com’

I am also having the same problem, and would love to know how to remove the recent articles and more articles – and have just a static content block, is this possible?

I just saw your website – and have one more question for you! (I hope you don’t mind.) I really like how you put your information on the top of your page – how did you do that? I’d like to do something similar if possible. Thank you in advance!

Hi,
Go to ‘dashboard>header’ and then upload a file (I just did it in PowerPoint and saved it as a png prior to upload). Hope this helps.

Notawoodpecker,
No – that’s probably why it’s so silent. Will try that. Thanks for your help.

Here are some Oxygen basics:
Oxygen Theme Description http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/oxygen/ Live demo site http://oxygendemo.wordpress.com/In Oxygen you can either have a Home page that displays your posts or a static front page ie. a Showcase template. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/#setting-up-a-static-front-page
Showcase page template
When you first activate Oxygen, you’ll see your posts in a traditional blog format but if you’d like to showcase your content in an online magazine-like fashion, then you can use the Showcase Page template. …Sticky post thumbnails are 750 pixels wide in the featured slider
Regular post thumbnails are 450 pixels wide

There can be only one static front page on any blog. If you choose to have the Showcase template then it becomes your static front page.

Time thief,
Thanks for your help – you seem very busy on here!
Is there anyway to make the static page appear beneath the slide show i.e. in this case the page entitled Skye White House. In essence a ‘home page’ with the remainder of the slides as different pages…
And please let me know if you have any plans to ever visit the Isle of Skye.
Thanks,

Time thief,
Just to clarify my above post – I have the slider as my static page but ideally would like the first page/post in the slide to display underneath (static) instead of as now ‘recent articles’ etc. Hope this makes sense. Although I managed to figure out how to set up this blog/theme I’m generally illiterate when it comes to tech!

I too have the same “want” as Skye White House.
I want to keep the slider, but get rid of the most recent articles and more articles.
Is that possible?
