Oxygen theme: How to display the slide featured images?

  I would like to set the slide featured images as the sample image of the Oxygen theme.
  I followed all the directions but it did not work. Also, I do not know how to set the black box on the left side as the sample blog of the Oxygen theme.

  First issue apparently resolved.
  As for the “black box”, you create a custom menu in Appearance > Menus, add items to it, and set it as your secondary menu.
