Oxygen theme: how to remove Secondary Sidebar in order to use that space
-
I wish to remove Secondary Sidebar in ALL of my posts/pages in order to use that space.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
From the Oxygen theme guide,
…the Secondary Sidebar displays search, links, and meta by default if no widgets are configured in Appearance → Widgets.
Adding another widget, or multiple widgets, results in the removal of the default widgets. An empty text widget will leave the area empty.

in order to use that space.
Removing a sidebar or placing an empty text widget at the top of the sidebar will not allow the blogger to blog in that space.

@ timethief,
Removing a sidebar or placing an empty text widget at the top of the sidebar will not allow the blogger to blog in that space.
Of course I know that. The member didn’t specify how they wanted to use the space. I presumed the intention was to place other widgets there.
-
I just mentioned the empty text widget as a means of leaving the space vacant as an option.

Okay then. I’m moving on.@orientaltextiles

Hi @orientaltextiles, I’m assuming you are wishing to remove the right sidebar and recover that space for post/page content. I’ve included the last two rules to adjust the width on some other elements so that they align on the right. Give the following a try and see what you think.
#tertiary { display: none; } .page-template-showcase-php #content, #content { margin-right: 0; } .comments-title, #comments #reply-title { width: 100%; } .section-title h1 { width: 96%; } -
Thanks, timethief and sacredpath,
I obviously misread the OP. The intention to use the space for something other than widgets is rather clear.

@thesacredpath, thanks! it answers my question :)
Later on, in case I wish to put the Secondary Sidebar back on to SOME of my posts/pages, is it feasible?@musicdoc1, @timethief, thanks for the help and encouragement :)

Yes, we can reverse that change on a page-by-page basis by using the page id CSS body class, so if you decide you wish to do that, just let us know.

Yes, I wish to do that for this page:

Let me know if this does the trick:
.page-id-1254 #tertiary { display: inherit; } .page-id-1254 #content { margin-right: 29.7872%; } .page-id-1254 .comments-title, .page-id-1254 #comments #reply-title { width: auto; } .page-id-1254 .section-title h1 { width: auto; }
