Oxygen theme – showing images full width

  Using the Oxygen theme. While I am quite happy with the functionality it permits, I want images embedded in my stories to appear larger (almost full width if possible). Is there any way of doing this?

  Oxygen is a pretty theme!

  You could utilize your theme’s full width template but you’d lose your sidebars, and you probably don’t want to do that.

  @ pixelvoyages,

  As susanhayse suggests, full width display of images with the Oxygen theme is possible only on pages set to full width template. The Quick Specs section of the Oxygen theme support page says, “The main column width is 470 except in the full-width layout where it’s 940.”

  Thanks for replying Susan and Musicdoc1 (wish I could address you by your real name). Yup, I don’t want to give up the sidebars coz they’re very useful. Just wish that the image could be seen in full width in my posts.

  Anyhow, am exploring free themes that offer responsive and fluid layout, with full width images. Have seen a few but not quite happy yet. Any suggestions?

  @pixelvoyages,

  Perhaps you could do it with CSS customization on this theme by hiding the sidebars on the posts page, and/or on single posts, and widening the post content width on the same.

  Have noticed recently that themes which advertise full width posts often have large left and right margins, thus limiting the width of post content, including images. However, I’ll let you know if I recall or find any free themes that come closest your desired specs.
