P2 front page posting and password protecting

I’m trying to figure out if I can do something.

I’d like a homepage that is informational and public, so I can use the link on flyers my drama club distributes before performances.

I also like the P2 “front page posting” but would want it to be private, just for club members. And I’d like to not require they have to register with WordPress, but just apply a password to the page for them to enter. When I created the blog page, Discussions, I gave it a password. However, when I log out, it appears for me anyway. Is that because of cookies, making the website remember I’d been there and entered the password already, so it’s letting me in?

Also, I was wondering if there are other themes that have similar discussion formats like P2.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

P2 is currently the only WordPress.com theme that allows front page posting of this nature.

If you make your site Public but restrict posting to club members only, you will have to invite those people to post and they will have to create WordPress.com accounts in order to do so.

If you make your site Private for club members only, your club members will have to create a WordPress.com account in order to access it.

Bottom line is that in either case they will have to have to register with WordPress.com

Bummer. I know it’s easy to make a wordpress account but there are people who balk at such things so I wanted to make it super easy.

Thank you so much for the quick answer.
