P2 only for WordPress.com sites?
-
Finally: I can see that williambowles.info is hosted through a third-party company while these forums are intended for sites hosted here at WordPress.com.
The fact that your site is running on the free software available over at WordPress.org may have led you here.
Since when? I’ve been using p2 for over 7 years on my wordpress site and it’s the first time I’ve been told it;s only for use wordpress.com site. What gives? Frankly, I find the wordpress people snooty (snobbish). What business is it of yours that I use P2 on a self-hosted site (I also have 3 sites on wordpress.com).
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
P2 can be used on any WordPress site.
I think you might have misunderstood Siobhan’s comment.
The forums you posted these threads in only provides support for sites hosted here at WordPress.com.
For sites hosted anywhere else, you should post your questions in the WordPress.org support forums.
It’s where a site is hosted that determines the best place for you to get support- the two different versions of WordPress each have different user interfaces, different documentation, different forums for support etc.
To learn about the differences between the two versions of WordPress (.com vs.org), please see this guide.

Thank you for adding clarification here, Gary. :)
@barbrovsky: Gary is right that I meant that we provide help for people who are hosted on WordPress.com on these forums while we provide help for people who are hosted elsewhere and using P2 here:
https://wordpress.org/support/theme/p2
The reason for the separation between the two forums is that both platforms are very different. We want to minimise any confusion.

Hi Gary,
Thanks for this. I use both forums. I just clicked on the link to p2 on my (self-hosted) site and it took me to wordpress.com. At the end of the day, what difference does it make where I post my query, especially as it has nothing to do with my question??I’m also annoyed that Siobhan just shut the thread, as her comment about headings is clearly incorrect. I have no control over the title size, weight etc, it has nothing to do with H settings, the theme does it. H1, H2, H3 etc are for subheadings, sections and so forth and have nothing to do with the title of the piece.

PS: I’ve been using WordPress for the last 7 years, so I think I have some idea of how things work. I just find the WordPress ‘gurus’ patronising and condescending.

@barbrovsky: Can you clarify which piece of information I gave that was incorrect? If the CSS I provided didn’t work then I will be happy to continue helping over on the theme’s WordPress.org forum.
We use different forums for WordPress.com and WordPress.org as the differences between the two has caused a lot of confusion for people in the past. We don’t want to add to the confusion by mixing the two forums up. We can continue to help with any questions on the correct forum, however.
