P2 site automatically reposting – How do I stop that?

I am creating a new blog for the hitchhiking culture on Bowen Island using the theme P2.
    http://bowenlift.wordpress.com

When at that site, after 30 seconds, and then every 30 seconds thereafter wordpress copies the top post and then reposts it. If you watch, you can see the software select the text, and then repost. I don’t know how I enabled that nor how to stop it. I am using Safari v5.0.

These repostings are not being saved, but they are hugely distracting to the reader. The duplicates vanish if I refresh the page, and then begin to repeat in 30 seconds. The duplicates do not appear in the list of posts in the back end. So the effect seems to be restricted to the operation of the top page of this P2 site (which is about all that anyone will see).

I have enabled the first page to show 15 posts, and for comments to be nested 5 levels deep. I am still in the setup phase and have not informed the users the site is here.

    Thanks… Robert

Best wishes for a happy ending. :)

Thanks timethief. Since I’d spent so little time with this blog, I figured that I’d bumped into an issue that lots of wordpress.com users would probably recognize, and would be easy to fix. I was hoping to have this discussion-tool, P2, ready for use today. I will contact support. BTW, some of the folks on your island might be interested in following this hitchhiking initiative that is gaining some interest here on Bowen. Best wishes… rjb

I may have solved the problem. And it is odd. When I set up the blog, and posted the first few comments, the local time was the default setting… is that GMT or UT? Well, somehow the magic front page of the P2 theme kept track of the order in which I published, and did not put the entries in the order according to the clock. Then, as I was adjusting the site, I set it for Pacific Daylight time. The order on the page stayed the same, but some of those posts were now actually set for some future time (after 15 hours or after 3 PM).

Simply by altering the post time to a time in the past (after 8 am) the problem seems to have evaporated.

Unless I have not actually resolved the issue, I will mark this topic: ‘Resolved.’ I’d imagine others will encounter this too, so it is probably worth having it here for folks to find.
