P2 Theme How to ONLY display unresolved posts on homepage.
-
Hello all. We’re trying to display only posts that are unresolved on the homepage of a P2 theme. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
The P2 theme does not have an option to do this. To control what posts appear on the home page you’d have to set a static page as the front page, and then use something like the Display Posts shortcode to control what posts appear. But that shortcode only supports standard WordPress meta data and taxonomies like categories, tags, authors, etc. To-do status is a unique feature of this theme, and doesn’t assign, for example, a tag to the post as well that could be used to target these posts.
You can always tag unresolved posts manually if you want, and then use Display Posts to show the tagged posts on the front page.

@kokkieh – Just thinking out loud, might it be possible to do this with a query, like https://cleanthechi.com/?replies=none&resolved=unresolved ?

Hi @justjennifer,
How would you implement this on the site? The posts shortcode isn’t compatible with that type of query.
-
Hi @fstat as a custom link in a custom menu.
We also suggest this when someone wants to display their posts in chronological order rather than the default reverse chronological. It’s also a query. https://en.support.wordpress.com/show-your-posts-in-chronological-order/

Thanks so much to everyone!!! I’m actually overwhelmed by how quickly everyone responded. Cheers!

I had a similar idea yesterday, but decided to hold off because I didn’t know if it could be applied to the homepage, since the support request was “How to ONLY display unresolved posts on homepage.” I’d noticed yesterday that the site already has the following archive pages for posts in resolved and unresolved status:
unresolved – https://cleanthechi.com/?resolved=unresolved
resolved – https://cleanthechi.com/?resolved=resolvedSo custom links to those may be easily added to a custom menu.
-
A link to the unresolved issues query page I mentioned above is already present in the widget titled Unresolved Issues, near the top of the sidebar widget area, where it says:
← Showing 1 – 5 of 12 unresolved posts →

Again, I’m totally blown-away by the responsiveness on this forum. Thanks-a-million, from Chicago!

Since this is a self-hosted site, couldn’t they use either code or a plugin to hide posts of a certain category from the blog page, as for example described in the “Hide all posts from specific categories” section of the article How to Hide Posts on Homepage of the WordPress Website (@firstsiteguide.com).
If so, then I imagine they could simply assign the category resolved to resolved posts and the code or plugin would hide those posts from the homepage.
-
They could definitely modify all of the code as desired since the site is self-hosted.
Custom code is a bit outside the scope of what we can provider here though.
I’d recommend continuing over at https://wordpress.org/support/forum/miscellaneous/
