P2 theme loses ability to upload media on front end
-
I created a private blog using P2 theme for a group to collaborate, but I noticed it was not possible to upload media from the front end. I set up a new blog with the P2 theme and left it public, and the media upload icon appeared in the right place. Then I changed the reading settings to make it private, and the media upload icon disappeared. I took a screenshot of that and uploaded it to a post (via the admin/back end). I changed it back to a public blog, but the media icon does not return. I tried logging out and back in, and changing to a different theme and then back to P2, but those things did not help. I would like users to have the ability to upload media from the front end of my private blog. Is this a bug?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This is expected behavior.
If you change the URL to https://kbtestingthemes.wordpress.com/ it will show up if you’re logged in. This is because the system is tied to admin access and requires the SSL connection.

Thank you, jackiedana, that works. Is it documented somewhere?
And will all my users have to have admin access to upload media?

I don’t know if it’s documented anywhere, to be honest. It’s a security setting since to upload an image requires a connection to the admin area, even though it’s on the front end.
If your P2 is private, all of your users who have access to post content (author level or above) should have access to that option.
