P2 Theme questions/improvements

    Hello friendly Happiness Engineers!

    I am using P2 as a simple blog for members to communicate, sort of like a forum. For the most part it looks like it will do what we need it to.

    However I have read through a number of other support queries about this theme in trying to get a handle on how it works and I have to agree with the other members who bemoan the lack of categories vs tags.

    The fact that one can create a menu item from categories and allow users to view just the posts with that category is invaluable.

    That combined with the fact that categories are established by Admins and any tag can be created by anyone doesn’t work in particularly well with my control freakish nature.

    Please please please if there is ANY enhancement at all that you can find time to do to this theme it is the ability to categorise your posts when posting.

    I do have about 50 other suggestions if you are interested in updating it lol but that one is my main one.

    The second most important one is the ability to limit/order the type of post that is made.

    My preference is for a blog post as opposed to a Status Update, Quote or Link, and in fact I could happily live without all of the others. The reason being that with a blog post and a Post title the users then have the ability to select just that post and read through the comments of that post without being distracted by other posts around it.

    The third huge enhancement is on the main posts page to just see an extract of the first 20 words or so rather than the entire post. It isn’t very neat (control freak coming out again)

    I’m hoping to see if I can achieve any of this with CSS, although I fear I will be sadly disappointed. So please, if anyone is bored one afternoon at WordPress and struggling for ideas, improving this theme would be fantastic. Even though it is basic it has real merit as a substitute “Forum”

    Oh and what is with the freaky border around every image/video/media that is added to the theme – very 1982.
