page appears in "review" but not in back end for editing?

  I’m working on creating my first blog/website. The template I’ve chosen, Responsive, seems to have created a default Home page. I can see this when I review the pages, but not in the backend to be able to edit it? I’d like to either edit or trash this default page.

  That is where your blog posts go, so as long as you are using WordPress, you can’t trash it. You can fail to make posts, and use a custom menu to hide it, but you can’t trash it.
