It seems the interface changed and the tutorial is out of date. For the creating a custom menu, I can not find where is the Appearance located.
For my question, I tried your third link. However, I can not find where I can checking the proper boxes for the pages I want.

Hi haoyuezh98,
It seems the interface changed and the tutorial is out of date.
When you are editing the menu, does the interface look like the WP Admin dashboard here:
https://hzhang2017.wordpress.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.php
Or the new interface here:
https://hzhang2017.wordpress.com/wp-admin/customize.php/
Once I know which one you are using, I can send you some steps for creating a sub page in your menu :)
-
Could you please send me step in both interfaces? I’m able to access to both now and am really interested in both ways.
-
Sure, I can send you both. It sounds like you want to create the following in your menu:
Page
> Takeaways from SITE (sub page that will sit under ‘Page’ in the menu)Is that correct?
-
That’s correct! If possible, I also want to know how to makes the Page page shows recently page like what Blog page did.
-
Ok, I’ll start with instructions for the new interface:
- Go to My Sites > Customize and click Menus
- Select Primary
- Click ‘Add Items’
- Click ‘Page’ (in the pages list that slides out). This will add ‘Page’ to the menu
- Click ‘Takeaways from SITE conference’ to add that page to the menu
- Drag ‘Takeaways from SITE conference’ under ‘Page’: https://cloudup.com/cLp1DNbeHXk
- Click the ‘Save & Publish’ button
Let me know how you get on!
-
Your steps work very well. However, when I want to use the function in a different way, I failed.
Still the same page, takeaway from SITE conference. I set three tags. One of them is takeaway. I would like to create a takeaway tag sub-menu so that there will not be so many sub-menus. So I click tag and click takeaway to add that tag to the menu and drag it under page. Then click the save and publish button. It was created in my website. But when I click the button, the website said nothing found.
I checked that I do tag the takeaway from SITE conference with takeaway and there is no typo.
-
So I click tag and click takeaway to add that tag to the menu and drag it under page.
The tags option in the menu is designed to display posts with a certain tag. However, you have added tags to pages. This guide explains the differences between between the two:
When you click the tag link, the ‘nothing found’ message is appearing because WordPress is looking for posts tagged with takeaway.
It’s still possible to display tagged pages, we just need to approach it a little differently. Trying adding this custom link to your menu:
https://hzhang2017.wordpress.com/?s=&post_type=page&tag=takeawayThe option to add a custom link will appear at the top when you click ‘Add Items’.
If you want to be able to sort your content by tag (and/or category), I’d recommend creating posts rather than pages as not all themes support tagged pages.
