Hi, I’m still waiting for a response but I want to clarify my question.
I have a widget titled “did you eat healthy today” under that I would like to have a link “recipes” where they click on that link and it goes to my recipes. right now it shows recipes and each individual recipe underneath it. i want the actual recipes hidden under the “parent” recipe. Hope this makes sense. I appreciate any feedback. -
Hi there!
I was in the process of responding when you replied again. Typically we get back to users within 24 hours, so you’re fortunate to catch us on a quiet day! :)
The Pages Widget will show every page on your site – even pages with the Recipes page as its parent – and there’s no way to hide subpages at this time.
What I would recommend is to use Categories, then use a Custom Menu to add the specific pages and categories to your sidebar.
By setting up a Recipe category, any post made that’s added to that category will then be listed under the Recipe category page. Here’s more information about Categories:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/Here’s what that category page would look like (using your “Healthy Cooking” category as an example):

That way if someone clicked on the “Recipe” category menu link, you’ll be taken to the page you wanted. Here’s detailed instructions on how to set up a Custom Menu and the Custom Menu Widget:
