page & categories

hello … me again
i have created categories and pages already and cannot for the life of me see how to fix this latest challenge. previous examples are working well here as you can see Gallery of works has sub pages and these show works posted within the different sub pages.
i have now created a new page (collage a day) and have posts with the category ‘collage a day’ but the page is not showing any posts.
i can t see from the successful pages how the posts show up in them. i thought it was linked to the categories against each post ?
advice please … as always, my thanks in advance >>> Gina

Please define that challenge more clearly. What do you want to actually DO?
http://fynearts.com.au/collage-a-day/ is a static page, not linked in any way to the category page. The category page exists: http://fynearts.com.au/category/collage-a-day/
Delete the static page. Here is the best thread for guidance on setting up what I am guessing you want: http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/06/30/posts-on-pages/

Hello raincoaster …. okay so
if you click on the page ‘collage a day’ … no posts are showing
yet i have categorised many posts against ‘collage a day’ …
(if you look at gallery of works and its sub pages, you can see THEY contain the relevant posts) …

Look at what I said. The static page you created is just a blank page. It doesn’t matter what you title it; it is a static page, not a category page, and it will never function as the link to all the posts in that category.
The category page link I gave DOES behave exactly as you want. Read the last link I gave you and follow the instructions.
Did you read any of what I wrote?

i read it .. i read it ….it doesnt make any sense to me .. thats why i am here !!!! (I have spent hours reading long before i came here) …
HOW DO I THEN CREATE A CATEGORY PAGE !!!! I KNOW its not how you title it …
i must have already done it with the others?????… what is the difference between the successful ones and this one ???? how do i tell if its a static page or one that is a categories post?your link states (in part)
What some users actually have in mind when they ask this question is how to arrange their posts into various groups. That’s the job of post categories, not pages. Just assign appropriate categories to your posts, and add the Categories widget to your sidebar or bottombar: clicking on a category in the widget will bring up the posts filed under that category.i have obviously done this ????? if the others are working ??????
i am sorry you sound frustrated …. its now making me feel bad.

YOU DO NOT CREATE A CATEGORY PAGE.
It is built into the software. It is created automatically, as soon as you use a given category on a given post. Its URL is of the format http://yourblog.com/category/category-name
You then take that link to the dynamic category page and put it in a custom menu, as explained on the wpbtips blog I gave you the link to.
