page content not visibile using front page template in Hero Theme

    Hello Support.

I am planning to change my main site (northernmma.wordpress.com/northernmma.com.au) from having POSTS as the home page to a STATIC page.

To that end, I have been playing about in my sandpit (nmmasandpit.wordpress.com) so I don’t screw it up.

However, The Hero Theme template appears to be broken when choosing the Front Page Template, the result being that none of the page content is displayed. If I choose Default or Full Page template then the page content is displayed – but it’s missing the features of Front Page (Promo’s etc) and has comment fields etc that I don’t want.

    Cheers, Snowy

    Hey Snowy!

I believe I see where the problem is occurring. You currently have your static front page set up for Home. That’s actually perfect. You did the exact right thing. However, Hero is a little funky in that you want to your Home page to be blank. None of the content you add to Home will appear on the front page of your site. As far as formatting, you were right to choose the font page template.

Now, if you would like to add content that will populate the slider at the top of the page, you must create this content in Posts, rather than Pages.

When you do create a post that you want to add to that slider (which currently appears empty on your site), you must do the following:

    • Give it a Featured Image.
    • Assign it a tag. For the sake of creating this slider, why don’t you call the new tag “Featured” and apply it to your post.

Now, go back to your Customizer, by clicking HERE.

In the blue menu on your right hand side, you’ll click Featured Content. Where you are asked to enter a tag name, type “Featured.” Type it exactly as you did when you tagged your post. Then, save your changes.

From now on, up to 10 posts that you tag with “Feature” will go into the front page slider.

I hope this clears things up a bit. It’s not completely intuitive that you should be using the Home page to create your font page’s content. Sorry about that confusion!
