Page disappears when editing
-
I hope someone can help as I’m being driven a bit bonkers by this issue.
When I type a new post, or edit an existing post, all goes fine for the first few minutes then suddenly the post, kitchen sink and right-hand menus disappear and there is just blank, white space in its place. I then have to use the scroll bar to go down as far as it will go and find everything right at the bottom of the page. If I click ‘save draft’ it refreshes and is back where it’s supposed to be, but then a few minutes later as I’m typing away off it jumps again.
It isn’t a problem with my keyboard, because this only ever happens in WordPress dashboard and only started happening about 4 months ago.
I use Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 9 (kept fully updated). I don’t want to switch to Chrome or Firefox as I have a disability and my IE is all set up for that. Also use AVG free edition for antivirus and my theme is Twenty Twelve.
I’m just a home user so I’d really appreciate some help that isn’t too technical. Many thanks.

Hi there,
Unfortunately, I am unable to reproduce the issue, so I can only assume it is a browser-related issue. I haven’t seen any bug reports of this issue, but I will keep an eye out.
Please make sure compatibility mode is turned off, and can you please try clearing out your cache and cookies using the guide below?
Also, please try all the methods in our browser issue support guide here:
Let me know if you have any questions with this!

@gracejiyoung
I also tried to reproduce this on use Windows 7 using IE 11 and I couldn’t. -
@timethief-
Thank you for checking! :)
@bertieandme-
It looks like it may be specific to your browser settings/computer. Please try the troubleshooting methods I provided you above, and report back if nothing works.
Thank you!

Thanks so much for your replies ladies – I’ll do as suggested and get back to you if it doesn’t help :-)

I apologise in the delay in replying to your kind suggestions – my Mum has been very ill.
I’ve tried all suggestions for cookies, compatability settings and browser and the issue remains.

I’m so sorry to hear about your mother. I hope she gets better soon. :)
Just as a test can you try on a different browser? Either Firefox or Chrome.
Let me know how it works out.

Thanks for your kind wishes :-)
I don’t have any other Browser installed on my laptop and with a download speed here in a rural area of less than 1mbps I’d prefer not to have to download one as it may take ages. Is there anything else I can try first?

It might be best to go through Internet Explorer’s troubleshooting tips:
http://support.microsoft.com/product/internet-explorer/internet-explorer-11
Also, try an alternate computer in the same location if you have one. If another computer works, then the issue is computer settings on the first one.
Also please try an alternate location that has a different Internet Service Provider. If it works, the issue is with your local network.

I downloaded Firefox and it’s solved the issue (although I find Firefox a much slower browswer to use than IE). IE was causing me no end of problems on WordPress (but nowhere else!). I find it strange that WordPress doesn’t support using IE despite it being the most popular browser in the world, but mine is not to reason why.
Thanks for your suggestions :-)

Hi there,
Yes WordPress.com is best used with either FF or Chrome as they are more stable. But, I’m glad it’s working!
Happy Blogging :)
