Page edit screen is blank.

Page edit screen (for one page only) shows only the top line of text. Even though page of text and photos is fully visible to the public. This occurs on only one page. Other pages edit fine.

Hi there,
This sounds like a cache issue. Have you tried logging in using a different browser or clearing your browser’s cache?
A few questions so that we can try to pinpoint the issue:
1. Do you recall anything you might have done to resolve this?
2. What is your computer operating system (example, Windows 10)
3. What Web Browser name and version were you using?
Let us know, thanks!

Yes, I tried clearing cache and switching to different browser and entirely different computer. But no difference whatsoever.
1. I browsed through previous versions that I saw available in right side window. But they would not load.
2 & 3. Windows 7 via most current Chrome browser. But as mentioned above same result in Firefox or entirely different computer running Windows 10.

Thanks so much for trying that and providing the additional information.
Could you pass us the URL to the page? My hope is we can reproduce and figure out what’s going on. Looking forward to your reply.

Hi there,
I had a look in the editor, and I see the HTML is not even loading in the code editor view of the block editor view.
However, I do see the full post in the classic editor at https://phigammachiwsu.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=955&action=edit&classic-editor
Looking at the HTML view in that editor, I notice the entire post is a single paragraph block, with multiple paragraphs inside it. But it should be a separate paragraph block for each paragraph, so I suspect that’s what’s confusing the editor.
How exactly did you create this page? I assume you used the block editor, correct?
Did you paste the content in from somewhere else? And did you make any edits to the HTML after you pasted in the content?

Thank you very much.
I’ve used the classic editor for years on several sites I maintain. But I only visit each of those sites rarely, often not for months. I’ve never converted to new block editor at least not willingly. I think I recall seeing the “choose your editor” screen the last time I modified this site. I don’t recall what choice I made.
I do recall originally creating the page in classic editor loading text in from Word on visual screen then modifying HTML on text screen in order to change the line spacing.
Real question now is how to proceed. Both to edit this particular screen (as easily as possible) but also to edit future screens that will likely encounter the same issue. They were all created in classic editor.
Thanks again.

The simplest option is to continue editing these in the classic editor. If you go to https://phigammachiwsu.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page you’ll see your pages listed there (and https://phigammachiwsu.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php for posts), and will be able to opt to use the classic editor to edit them.
However, the classic editor won’t be support indefinitely – it will only exist on WordPress.com as long as the WordPress.org community, who makes the WordPress software, continues to maintain the classic editor plugin on that end. So it’s better to start the switch to the block editor while the classic editor still exists as a backup.
I’m not sure why this page ended up the way it did in the block editor, though – I don’t see anything in the HTML itself that could have caused this, and when you opened the page in the block editor it should have loaded that content in the classic block for you to continue working on. Even if you clicked the “Convert to blocks” option, it should then have create a new block for each paragraph, instead of putting all the content in a single paragraph block. So I’m a bit stumped at what exactly happened here.
But as for fixing it I suggest the following:
Edit the page in the classic editor, Ctrl-A to select all the content, and Ctrl-C to copy it.
Then create a new page in the block editor, and paste the content in there. This should automatically paste in the content using the appropriate blocks. (If you prefer, you can also select the Classic Block, and paste the content inside that block – the classic block emulates the feel of the classic editor inside the block editor.)
You might need to fix some formatting issues after pasting, but all the content should be there. Save the draft, leave the editor, and come back. If all’s good, delete/unpublish the current page created in the classic editor, and publish the new page created in the block editor in its place.

Thank you so much! I had completely forgotten about the “Classic Editor” choice available at https://phigammachiwsu.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=page. I also think I understand the rest of your message.
As to why block edit isn’t handling the page as expected, it’s possible that I deleted the HTML paragraph markers (or other critical features) when I changed the HTML code to accomplish better line spacing. Recall, I pasted sections in while in classic visual mode screen than switched over to classic text screen to change (usually delete) characters there. Then toggle back and forth to see the result. I don’t know HTML in any formal sense, so I might have deleted critical items the block editor looks to for guidance.
Again, thank you so much for your help!

What you describe there makes a lot of sense. I like that you were getting creative and trying to figure out the environment. We’ll be here to help fix the issues you run into along the way, so remain curious and don’t let this deter you from continuing to work on your blog and publishing new posts and pages. Practice makes perfect. :)
