Page Errors

    We appear to be having problems with the pages on our website. The home page is working, but whenever we click on one of the church links on the bottom of the page it says ‘the page is not found’. However, whenever we log in, the pages appear to be fine. It does appear that our theme doesn’t support those pages anymore, and so we changed to a new theme, but they still don’t work. We’ve checked our permalink as well as our plugins and nothing seems to work. We would really appreciate some help on this!

    Hello, I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your website. However, your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted elsewhere.

    To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

    WordPress.org has complete documentation for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at https://wordpress.org/support/ and support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

    With that said, try re-saving your permalink structure at Settings > Permalinks in your Dashboard. If WordPress cannot automatically edit the .htaccess file, it will provide manual instructions after saving.

    Hi Max,
    Thank you for getting back to us. We didn’t know about the WordPress.org and WordPress.com difference, so thank you for clearing that up. We just tried the permalink and it still gives us the same error. We know that the theme we use has an error attached to it saying “stylesheet is missing”. That’s why we tried changing the theme but to no avail. Is there any other tricks to try?

    What specific link are you receiving the the page is not found message? I tested all the links and did not get that message on my end for any of them.

    Hi Darnel,
    The links we’re talking about are the church titles right underneath the home page title and picture.

    Thanks for clarifying – I still can’t seem to recreate the issue as the links seem to work for me. Try clearing your browser cache to see if that clears it up.
