Page Hierarchy

    Hi,

So a bit of a question about structuring pages and then allowing users to access the various elements from different areas of the blog.

My WIP blog will primarily work via Posts which will link the user to corresponding pages of longer, original football writing. I would like to have YouTube style media supporting each Page, but I don’t necessarily want to post all of those links at the end of the writing on the Page – I want to keep the writing about the words and not let other stuff get in the way.

So the theory in my mind at least goes that I would like to create a new page which will be Media only but relative to the article. Thus the following flow:

Post> Hello, new article written on Barcelona. Here’s the link
Page> 2000 words on Barcelona related subject. Here’s a link to Barcelona on Film which contains clips for this and any other Barcelona articles.
Media Page> Contains clips of all Barcelona articles.

I hope this is still clear and not too long winded! In essence I want to know if it would be possible for me to create via a widget or some other manner a Menu system that would allow me to create a broad On Film heading with all the clubs who have their own media pages within the blog.

This would allow a user to go to a Barcelona On Film page without having to go through a Barcelona post or (article) page to get there.

    Thanks,

    Craig

Before answering your actual question, I must say I don’t see the point of what you’re doing.
“My WIP blog will primarily work via Posts which will link the user to corresponding pages of longer, original football writing.”
    Why?

Not sure I understand your question. I have a number of written pieces that are around 2000 words each, thus they take up a reasonable amount of space by the time you add in pics.

I’m not going to have 2000 words posts, so what else would I do but use the posts to link to the pages?

I don’t see why a 2000-word page is acceptable but a 2000-word post isn’t. If you mean you don’t want your homepage to become too long, just use the read-more tag:

You can even split each post into a series of numbered pages:
