page jump not working, rewriting code?
-
I checked all over FAQs and related forum entries for jumps and anchors, but this one has me stumped. I have a glossary page and want to list words, then jump to explanations of them lower on the same page.
I’m writing the code exactly as instructed on “How to page jump” but the code editor has rewritten it:
<a href="#a">jumpfrompoint</a>
<a name="a">jumptopoint</a>The latter comes up rewritten (and unusable as a link) as
<a title="a" name="a"></a>jumptopoint.Any ideas? I’ve tried deleting the name=”a” and just using title=”a” but that does nothing. I tried using ` too as Thesacredpath recommends, but that didn’t do anything different. My list of words will be growing, so this is a really great feature–scratch that, a vital feature–for my blog. I’m new to WP but not unfamiliar with HTML, tho a little rusty.
Any help is much appreciated. I know support is closed this week too, bummer.

Hm, well that’s interesting… that’s exactly what my links are doing, nothing… I meant to write
<a name="codeword">as Thesacredpath…BTW, the page in question is under gardenofunknowablethings dot wordpress dot com.

This is what I have used:
<a href="#film">On the film</a> <a title="film" name="film"></a>I’m not sure why you need both the ‘title’ and the ‘name’ components, but it does work. And I don’t think you need text in the second part of the jump, only the first. If you want a click back to Home, you’ll need to set that up as a separate jump.

Thanks, Ros! I posted that last reply before refreshing and seeing your post. I’m noting your suggestion down right away, in case of emergency :o)
