Page Layouts – not available in site editor

  If I choose to add a page from the (dashboard)/Pages/add new page button, I can pick from numerous very helpful page layouts. But if I’m in the Site editor (dashboard)/appearance/editor/Pages/add new page button, I’m simply asked to name the page and that’s it – I get a blank page.
  Is there a reason for this?

  The ‘AI’ generated answer I got from this question was “If you wish to use pre-designed page layouts, you can switch back to the regular WordPress editor by going to Appearance → Editor in your site’s dashboard.”

  This is completely wrong – the problem was found in the ‘Appearance / Editor’ path! (I’ve seen this a lot with AI generated stuff – gets the wrong answer!)
